Expressive Healing through Art at The Farm at San Benito

On July 27, Klaypel held a transformative Expressive Arts Healing Workshop at the scenic Farm at San Benito, drawing in participants from various walks of life. With ages ranging from the youngest participant, an 8-year-old child, to the eldest, an inspiring 85-year-old, the event demonstrated that art and healing truly transcend age.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Cherry Palacio, an expert in expressive arts therapy, who guided participants through a creative and meditative journey of self-discovery and healing. The focus was on using Klaypel art—a unique textured art medium made from recycled paper—to channel emotions, to release stress, and foster well-being.

The workshop kicked off with breathing exercises, allowing attendees to ground themselves and center their energy. Following this, the group engaged in hand tracing, a collaborative activity inviting participants to reflect on the things they want to let go and receive in their lives. To further enhance the experience, music played softly in the background, creating a therapeutic atmosphere. Participants were encouraged to express themselves freely, combining art-making with positive affirmations.

The highlight was watching attendees of all ages embrace their creativity, using Klaypel as a medium to express their inner lives in a tangible form within this safe space. As they molded and shaped their artwork, they were able to tap into their thoughts and experiences, and connect with one another on a deeply personal level.

By the end of the session, each group walked away with their own Klaypel creation—a symbol of their emotional journey and a reminder of the power of expressive arts in healing. The event proved to be more than just an art workshop; it was a space of connection, personal reflection, and healing for all involved.

This workshop, hosted in the serene surroundings of The Farm at San Benito, offered not just an escape from the stresses of daily life but also a reminder of the profound ways art and nature can heal the mind, body, and soul.

If you’re looking for a therapeutic outlet through art, our workshops are a unique experience that caters to everyone—whether you’re 8 or 85! Keep an eye out for our future events and discover the healing power of creativity.
